Juan J. Cruces is the President of Universidad Torcuato Di Tella and a Full Professor of financial economics in its Business School. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Washington-Seattle, and an MA in International and Development Economics from Yale University. He has previously been Director of the Center for Financial Research, Dean of the Business School, and Chair of its Master’s in Finance program. He has been a visiting professor at ESCP Europe Business School in Paris and at the American University of Paris. Prof. Cruces is a frequent winner of the Distinguished Teaching Award, voted annually by each student cohort at the end of their program. He specializes in Financial Economics with an emphasis on issues related to Emerging Markets. His work has been published by American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics, Stanford University Press, Emory International Law Review, Emerging Markets Review, and Fondo de Cultura Económica. He has been a consultant to private, public, and financial institutions, including the Inter-American Development Bank, and the Chilean Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). He has been an expert witness in cases brought before Economic (white-collar) Crime Courts and the Argentine SEC. Prior to becoming President of the University, he frequently addressed business fora and appeared in TV and radio shows. His research has been cited in important global media including The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Roubini Global Economics, The Financial Times, Le Temps (Switzerland), Nikkei Shimbun (Japan), Die Welt and Handelsblatt (Germany), El País and El Economista (Spain), El Comercio (Peru), América Economía and La Tercera (Chile), La Nación, Clarín, El Cronista, Página 12, Ámbito Financiero (Argentina), and others.
