Can exchange students do internships and volunteering?

The Argentine law requires that all internships be paid. In order to be paid, students must obtain a National ID and a tax identification number (CUIL or CIT). Also, an agreement between the University, the student and the hiring company is required. Since getting these documents can take a few months, students coming for a semester generally cannot get internships. However, many students opt to volunteer. Volunteering opportunities are not paid. Listings of internships may be found at Idealistas, the Government of the City of Buenos Aires and Quiero Ayudar.
