Mission

The educational mission of the Latin American International Tax Program (LAITP) is to provide leading tax officials and tax practitioners with the finest intensive education on international taxation available in the Spanish-speaking world. The program’s primary goal is to challenge traditional disciplinary boundaries by teaching in fields that require problem-oriented interdisciplinary approaches.

The faculty has an international profile. Professors are drawn from the Northwestern University and Universidad Torcuato Di Tella (UTDT) International Tax Programs. Strong interaction between professors and participants, inside and outside of the classroom, is a key element of this program.

The Program is based on case studies from investments from the United States, Europe and Asia to Latin America (and vice versa). Emphasis is given to the interaction of the Latin American tax treaty network with other tax treaty networks (such as those of Asia, Europe, and the US). The Program also focuses on landmark tax litigation crucial to tax professionals doing businesses in Latin America.
