Coronavirus recommendations

February 1, 2020

In an effort to support the well-being of the university community, we are monitoring developments related to the 2019 novel Coronavirus (n-CoV). This situation is dynamic and rapidly changing with new guidance and recommendations issued.

There are currently no known exposures to the coronavirus at UTDT.  Although this is a low risk situation to our community, we are taking high precautions and will continue to update the campus as circumstances warrant.

Following health practices implemented by countries and universities around the globe, Universidad Torcuato Di Tella requires that all individuals coming to Argentina from countries with a high incidence of coronavirus self-isolate for 14 days as of 12 pm of Saturday, February 1st, 2020.

These individuals should monitor their body temperature daily and should they feel sick with fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, should seek medical attention right away. In case of the symptoms or any questions, please contact the International Programs Department at +54 9 11 6785 6361.

There are currently no vaccines available to protect against the novel coronavirus infection, so the best ways to reduce the risk of infection include the following:

  • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Cover your mouth with the bent elbow or a disposable handkerchief when coughing; the handkerchief should be disposed of immediately and hands should be washed or sanitized.
  •  Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

As with any health alert, the university is proactively working with campus partners and with local authorities to monitor the situation and to protect the health and well-being of the UTDT community.

UTDT wants to express support to the students, faculty, and staff who are impacted by these difficult circumstances both here in Argentina and abroad. You are important and valued members of our community and the Department of International Programs is available to provide you with support if needed.
