Michael Flamm obtuvo su Ph.D. por la Columbia University. Se especializa en historia política de Estados Unidos, principalmente en las décadas de 1960 y 1970.
Es autor de Law and Order: Street Crime Civil Unrest, and the Crisis of Liberalism in the 1960s (2005), Debating the 1960,s: Liberal, Conservative and Radical Perspective (2007) y Debating the Reagan presidency (2009).
Entre otros artículos ha publicado: "The "Long Hot Summer" and the Politics of Law and Order." Mitchell Lerner, ed. Looking. Back at LBJ: White House Politics in a New Light (2005); "The Politics of "Law and Order"" David Farber, ed. The Conservative Sixties (2003); ""Law and Order" at Large: The New York Civilian Review Board Referendum of 1966 and the Crisis of Liberalism." The Historian (2002).
Actualmente trabaja en el libro In the Heat of the Summer, sobre los motines de Harlem de julio de 1964.
Michael Flamm es Profesor Asociado de la Ohio Wesleyan University, y se encuentra en Argentina como profesor invitado por la Comisón Fulbright.
