Incidental jurisdiction under the Law of the Sea Convention: present challenges of international courts and tribunals

Kate Parlett is a practitioner in public international law and international arbitration. She has advised and represented States, private entities and individuals in disputes relating to land and maritime boundaries, international investment law, State responsibility, treaty obligations, sovereign immunity, human rights law, environmental law, United Nations sanctions and international crimes. She has appeared as Advocate and Counsel before the ICJ, including in land and maritime boundary and environmental law disputes. Formerly a senior associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in Paris, Kate will join 20 Essex Street Chambers in London in 2015. Kate completed her PhD at the University of Cambridge, published by Cambridge University Press under the title The Individual in the International Legal System: Continuity and Change in International Law.
