Regulación Bancaria (Banking Regulation)

 

The purpose of this course is to examine the banking regulatory framework and to contribute to a critical understanding of the subject matter through the combined study of theories of regulation in general and through the analysis of particular areas of financial market regulation, such as banking, foreign exchange and securities. The course provides an insightful view of current local as well as international regulatory developments with the aim to identify the most relevant issues addressed by the different regulatory policies towards increasingly complex financial phenomena and markets. Issues such as capital regulation, lender of last resort, deposit insurance, Central Bank functions, exchange control regulations, international financial crises and the role of international financial institutions are addressed in this course.
