Dr. Gustavo Vulcano is Full Professor of Operations and Academic Dean at the Business School of Universidad Torcuato Di Tella (UTDT), and an Independent Researcher with CONICET (Argentina’s National Scientific and Technical Research Council). From 2017 to 2022, he served as Director of the Master in Management (MiM) + Analytics program at UTDT.

He earned B.Sc.(1995) and M.Sc.(1997) degrees in Computer Science from the University of Buenos Aires in 1997, and a Ph.D. in Decision, Risk, and Operations from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business in 2003.

Prior to joining UTDT, Dr. Vulcano was a full-time faculty member at New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business from 2002 to 2017, where he was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2012. He currently serves as Adjunct Professor at Stern, teaching in both the Master of Science in Business Analytics and the MBA programs. He has also held visiting positions at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business (2019-20) and at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business (2022-24).

His research interests include revenue and pricing analytics, retail operations, and supply chain management. His work has been published in leading journals in these fields, such as Operations Research, Management Science, and Manufacturing & Service Operations Management. He served as Co-Editor for the Revenue Management & Market Analytics area of Operations Research during 2018-2023, and was Chair of the INFORMS Revenue Management and Pricing Section during 2016–2017.

Dr. Vulcano has also served as an international consultant for firms including Delta Airlines, Sabre Holdings, and Movie Uruguay. In Argentina, he has advised organizations such as the Pérez Companc Foundation, Standard Bank (now ICBC), Grupo Flechabus, and Aerolíneas Argentinas.
